🥣 Spicy Turkish Ezme (Acılı Ezme)

“Ezme is a bold and spicy Turkish appetizer made with finely chopped vegetables and herbs. It’s tangy, slightly sweet, and full of flavor — the perfect mezze to serve with warm bread or grilled meats!”

Why It’s Good for You:

  • Full of fresh raw veggies
  • A kick of natural anti-inflammatory spice
  • No cooking needed! Quick and light!

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium ripe tomatoes, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ bunch parsley, finely chopped
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon pomegranate molasses (but we skip this if you like it simple)

Instructions:

  1. Prep Everything Finely:
    • The finer the chop, the better the ezme! (Or pulse gently in a food processor.)
  2. Mix the Base:
    • In a bowl, combine chopped tomato, onion, pepper, garlic, and parsley.
  3. Flavor It Up:
    • Stir in tomato paste, olive oil, lemon juice, cumin, chili flakes, and salt.
  4. Let It Rest:
    • Chill for 15–20 minutes before serving for flavors to blend beautifully.
  5. Serve:
    • Best with grilled bread, kebabs, or as a mezze spread!

Tips for a Perfect Ezme:

Don’t over-process: You want texture, not puree.
Fresh lemon, not bottled! Big difference in taste.
Chill before serving — flavor explosion!
