🍮 Classic Homemade Pudding

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups milk (1L)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 egg yolk (optional, for richness)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (for chocolate version)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for glossy finish)

Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients:
    • In a pot, whisk sugar, cornstarch (and cocoa if making chocolate version).
  2. Add Milk & Egg Yolk:
    • Slowly add milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Stir in egg yolk if using.
  3. Cook Until Thick:
    • Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and bubbles.
  4. Finish & Chill:
    • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and butter. Pour into serving bowls.
  5. Cool & Serve:
    • Let it cool at room temp, then chill in fridge. Serve plain or with fruit/nuts.

Tips for Perfect Pudding:

Constant Stirring = No Lumps
Use Egg for Richness: But can be skipped.
Cover While Cooling: To avoid skin on top.
